Symantec have worked extensively to cover for the key software intrusions that a regular user might face. Updated technology has paved the way for enhanced phishing protection, while a new anti-crimeware tracker has been implemented to cut down on instances of key logging. An installation of Norton Confidential can go a long way to correcting issues with malicious content being downloaded unknowingly. The most dangerous of these would have to be the key logger, and Confidential provides a nice alert bar to guarantee a system’s protection from such files.

Norton AntiVirus 2007 includes rootkit tools for removing operating system threats in addition to automatic detection and removal of viruses, spyware, and worms. It also scans email (incoming and outgoing) and instant messages.

The system scanning options are easy to configure. You can choose to scan automatically at a pre-set time of day, or perform scans manually. You can also choose among a full scan, quick scan, or custom scan setting. The average computer user will do very well using the automatic full scan, especially since it can be minimized to run in the background while you’re using the computer for other things.
